Why I Joined Tau Beta Sigma

When I initially joined the Marching 110, I heard about Tau Beta Sigma (TBS) and Kappa Kappa Psi (KKP) through word of mouth. I was immediately interested, since my original plan was to rush for some Greek organization when I came to college. My mom was apart of a Greek org when she was in college, and all her stories about how much fun it was and all the friends she made inspired me to do the same. I was unable to really immerse myself in the Greek scene at first since band took up all of my extra time outside of class.

When I discovered that both TBS and KKP were music orgs, and they both were deeply involved with the Marching 110, I knew I wanted to rush one of them. From there, it was basically a matter of which group I believed I fit better with.

Over time, I realized that I wanted to be apart of the sisterhood of TBS. A lot of my friends knew they wanted to rush KKP right away, but I was always unsure. After so much time spent with TBS members, I knew that I wanted to be apart of something that focused on women and music, not just music. TBS pushes you to better yourself, and it made a greater impact for me since I am a woman.

I know I made the right choice. I love every single one of my sisters, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about my journey so far!
